Caring for You workshops at CoWL

We recently launched a brand new series of workshops and encouraged our first attendees to focus on the importance of caring for themselves.

At CoWL, we know that many unpaid carers often focus most of their attention and energy solely upon the person they care for, so much so that they forget to take care of themselves. This can often lead to deterioration in their mental and physical health (in our recent survey, most people told us that their mental health is one of the main things impacted by their caring role).

These Caring for You workshops give people the opportunity to have some down-time to recharge batteries in a peaceful venue. You also learn some hints and tips on how you can keep your energy wells full to the brim with activities such as mindfulness and stress awareness training related to boundaries and self-care.

These sessions help carers make sense of their journey exploring topics like changing relationships, dealing with guilt, coping with stress, and reconnecting with a fulfilling life

Here’s how attendees told us they benefited:

  • “I realised that I’m not alone.”

  • “Meeting lovely people who didn’t judge.”

  • “Freedom to open up about our lives.”

  • “Hearing everyone’s journey and tips to cope.”

  • “Sharing ourselves and being allowed to be vulnerable in a safe space.”

  • “The advice made me think differently about myself.”

  • “Friendship and compassion.”

We’ve had such a positive response that we plan to host new workshop sessions in 2026.

Does this sounds like something you’d be interested in trying out?
