Carers of West Lothian Become ‘Qualified by EFQM’

We are pleased to announce that Carers of West Lothian have become EFQM Qualified! The EFQM model, or European Framework for Quality Management, is a globally recognised management framework recognising organisations striving for excellence. By working towards this qualification, we become one of just two organisations in Scotland recognised as qualified by EFQM.

This certification has helped us assess our goals, looking at how we operate, identifying our strengths and highlighting areas where we strive to make improvements. Going forward, we will use the EFQM model to help CoWL improve how we support our service users and how we engage with partners, staff, volunteers and the wider West Lothian community.

As part of becoming EFQM Qualified, we were joined byRussell Longmuir, the CEO of EFQM and Louise Myall recently, who visited Sycamore House to present us with our award. We had a lovely time meeting them, and it was good to reflect back on the six months we spent working towards this award.

Our CEO, Alison, who was one of our main driving forces to completing the EFQM Framework has said “We are delighted to have this recognition from a globally recognised quality framework.  We’ve learned a lot from the process and will use the learnings from this to help us improve how we support carers and disabled people as well as how we run the charity.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our team for their hard work in preparing for this assessment and EFQM for their support with the process.”
