Groups for Young Carers

Running throughout term-time, our young carer groups offer the chance to have an evening of fun, making new friends and learning important life skills.

Offering young carers the chance to get away from their caring role and have fun

Young carers registered with Carers of West Lothian are offered the opportunity to attend our young carer groups. Running weekly throughout term-time, we host separate sessions for junior and senior age groups—giving the kids the best opportunity to have fun with their own age groups.

Each week we have fun with a different activity, socialise and also teach the young carers important life skills. Past activities include pizza parties with Ooni pizza, gaming nights, seasonal parties like Halloween and much more!

“I don’t often get out after school and don’t have a lot of friends. Coming to the group has meant I’ve made new friends with people who have a better idea of what my life is like”

How Can My Young Person Join the Groups?

Our young carer groups are by invitation only. By registering your child with Carers of West Lothian, they can join the waitlist to attend our sessions.

If you would like to know more about the groups, or refer a young person to our service, then please contact a member of our young carers team.

Groups or 1-1 support

Alongside our group activities and trips, we offer 1-1 support for young carers in West Lothian. We deliver activities in schools, host drop-in sessions after school, and have a programme of activities through the summer holidays.

Over 16? Join our young adult carer groups

Our young adult carer groups run monthly with a different activity. They help young carers transition into adulthood, navigating your caring role through finishing school, getting into the workforce and growing up.
