Young Carer Action Day 2026
Young Carer Action Day is on Wednesday 11th March, and we join organisations and communities across the UK in recognising the incredible contribution of young carers and calling for better support to ensure they have fair futures.
This year’s theme, “Fair Futures for Young Carers,” highlights the importance of making sure every young carer has the same opportunities to grow, learn and thrive as their peers. Too often, caring responsibilities can create barriers to education, wellbeing and participation — and today is a reminder that change is both needed and possible.
How you can support young carers
There are many meaningful ways that schools, colleges and community organisations can get involved:
Invite our team to your school or college
We can deliver awareness sessions for students and staff, helping professionals recognise the signs of a young carer and ensuring young people know where to turn for support.
Share our information and posters
Displaying a poster in a hallway, staffroom or classroom can make a huge difference. Sometimes one piece of information is all it takes for a young carer to realise they’re not alone.
Start the conversation
Talking about young carers in assemblies, newsletters, classrooms or staff meetings helps reduce stigma and ensures young carers feel recognised and valued.
Young Carer Action Day is an opportunity for everyone to play a part in building fair futures. By raising awareness, improving support and celebrating young carers’ resilience, we can help ensure they are seen, heard and supported, today and every day.
