We’re Excited to Announce Our New Charity Ambassadors
CoWL are thrilled to introduce four incredible individuals who have been appointed as our new Charity Ambassadors. This honorary role recognises their outstanding commitment to our mission and their tireless efforts to raise awareness within their communities.
Over the past few years, we’ve made it a priority to reach those who are often underrepresented in traditional support systems. Many carers, particularly within ethnic minority communities, don’t always recognise themselves in the term “carer” or know what support is available. That’s where these remarkable leaders have stepped in. Through their trusted voices, cultural insight, and deep community connections, they’ve helped us break down barriers, build trust, and ensure more people feel seen, heard, and supported.
Their work has already made a lasting impact and we’re excited to continue this journey together, championing equity and inclusion for all carers in West Lothian.
We’re excited to continue working with these passionate leaders to coninue improving opportunities and outcomes for unpaid carers, young carers and disabled people in West Lothian.
Anna Tingting Yu
Anna, co-founder of the West Lothian Chinese Community Hub (WLCCH), has been a vital partner in helping us connect with Asian communities. From the moment we stepped into the Hub in 2022, we were welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm. Anna’s leadership has helped us raise awareness of what it means to be a carer, particularly among parent carers, and her support was instrumental in securing funding to provide respite and support.
Together, we’ve co-hosted events like the 2023 Family Fun Day, which brought over 100 carers together in celebration. Anna’s dedication is evident in everything she does—from running a WhatsApp group that connects Asian families with key services, to supporting mums of children with additional needs. A mother of five, a carer, and a student of education, Anna’s passion and energy are truly inspiring.
Eunice Simpson
Eunice, founder and CEO of the West Lothian African Women’s Network, has been a powerful advocate for African women carers. Since our first collaboration in 2022, Eunice has worked closely with us to deliver training, gather community feedback, and secure funding to support carers in her network.
Her commitment to amplifying African women’s voices and ensuring they are heard and supported is unwavering. From sharing our newsletters to co-developing leisure activities for parent carers, Eunice is always looking for ways to uplift her community. Her recent appointment as Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Lothian—the first Black person to hold the title—is a testament to her leadership and impact.
MD Rezaur Rahman
As Chair of the West Lothian Community Race Forum, MD has been a beacon of positivity and collaboration. Since becoming Chair in 2024, he has helped us connect with new partners and opportunities, including a cultural celebration with Theiya Arts in 2025.
MD’s belief in building inclusive, welcoming communities aligns perfectly with our mission. His voluntary work with the Race Forum and professional role with Police Scotland as a Community Relationships Specialist make him a powerful connector and advocate for carers across West Lothian.
Esther Idowu
Esther’s journey with CoWL began when she accessed our support during a time of personal crisis. Since then, she has become one of our most passionate advocates, sharing her story with honesty and strength to help others understand the challenges faced by Black African carers.
From speaking at our open day to starring in our new website video, Esther continues to inspire. A full-time carer for her two children with additional needs, she is a regular at our Armadale Coffee Morning and a proud supporter of the African Women’s Network. Her resilience and advocacy make her a truly deserving Ambassador.
