Take Control of Your Care: Join Our Self-Directed Support Workshops

Everyone deserves to feel confident and empowered when it comes to managing their care. That’s why we’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Self-Directed Support (SDS) workshops, designed to help you understand your rights, explore your options, and take control of your support journey.

Whether you're a carer, someone receiving support, or just starting to explore what SDS could mean for you or a loved one, these workshops are a great place to start. We know that navigating care systems can feel overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to be. Our sessions are friendly, informal, and packed with practical information to help you make informed decisions.

What’s On?

We’ve got two fantastic workshops lined up:

🗓 Introduction to Self-Directed Support
📍 Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian, Bathgate
🕙 Wednesday 25th June, 10:00–11:30am
This session is perfect if you’re new to SDS or just want to understand the basics. We’ll cover what SDS is, who it’s for, and how it can help you shape the support that works best for your life.

🗓 Preparing for an Adult Care Support Plan
📍 Bridge Community Project, Livingston
🕙 Thursday 31st August, 10:00am–12:00pm
This workshop is ideal if you’re thinking about—or already planning—your care. We’ll walk you through what to expect, how to prepare, and how to make sure your voice is heard in the process.

Why It Matters

Understanding SDS is more than just ticking a box—it’s about having the knowledge and confidence to make choices that reflect your needs, values, and goals. These workshops are designed to be accessible, easy to follow, and genuinely useful, no matter where you are in your care journey.

We asked for feedback from some of our past attendees:

The course was extremely helpful and it was great to have lots of discussion about people's different experiences.”

It’s good to have these updates, useful information and signposting to help me with the next stage.”

Ready to Join Us?

If you or someone you know could benefit from learning more about SDS, we’d love to see you there. These sessions are free to attend, and you’ll leave with practical tools, helpful resources, and the confidence to take the next step.
