Announcing our microgrant programme for unpaid carers

We’ve launched our 2025/26 Time to Live microgrant scheme offering unpaid carers and young carers in West Lothian the opportunity to apply for funds that will support them to access a break from caring.

Caring for someone you love is deeply rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. That’s why the Time to Live funding program exists—to give unpaid carers across Scotland the opportunity to take a well-deserved break, recharge, and focus on their own wellbeing.

What is Time to Live?

Funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Shared Care Scotland, Time to Live grants are delivered locally by Carers of West Lothian, ensuring support reaches carers of all ages—including adult carers, parent carers, and young carers.

The goal is simple yet powerful:

  • To support carers in maintaining their own health and happiness

  • To strengthen relationships between carers and those they support

  • To make a positive impact on both carers and their loved ones

I’ve received the brilliant news that I’m to be awarded the time to live grant. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

A break that works for you

One of the best things about Time to Live microgrants is the freedom to choose how you take your break. Whether it’s:
🎉 A weekend getaway
💆‍♀️ A spa day
🚴‍♂️ A new bike
📚 Sewing lessons, gym membership, or something completely different

These grants empower carers to think creatively and design a break that truly helps them recharge and reconnect.
