MIST Celebrated it’s first birthday on Wednesday 5th March 2025 (after the official project launch on 5th March 2024) and we were delighted to deliver the Older People’s Provider & Memory Support Fayre at Howden Park Centre with a range of over 30 stall holders (including project partners and Steering Group members), the Older People Providers and memory Support Fayre was held at Howden Park Centre.
It was a huge success, with well over 200 people attending for information and advice from more a wide variety of West Lothian organisations.
Visitors at the event chat with information stands to learn more about services available in West Lothian.
From MIST Partners (OPAL and the Food Train, Generation Arts and the Memory Treatment Service staff), Xcite’s ageing well project, Day Care providers to community groups and care providers. The Older People’s Community Mental Health Team from NHS Lothian were also in attendance as were Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire Service. The event included short talks from local experts such as Professor June Andrews and ourselves at Carers of West Lothian and feedback from the event included:
If I hadn't of heard about this from a call I had this week, I wouldn't have known the level of support I could access in my caring role. I've left feeling considerably more hopeful and armed with knowledge of next steps and how to access independently and with the support of CoWL.
Really useful event - having so many people and organisations in attendance today. Thank you so much for offering this. Having attended something smaller some time ago I found this event to be so helpful.
Such a warm feeling around the day and left feeling buoyed up in knowing what I can access, when I need to.
Such a well organised event. Cannot believe how many organisations are here. People were very welcoming and lots of info to take away. Thank you so much. X
Partnership event held by MIST partners.
Over the course of the afternoon, we also had access to the Dementia Bus provided by Home Instead and this allowed attendees to participate with this and get a deeper understanding and compassion towards those living with Dementia. Professionals and volunteers also had the opportunity prior to the event beginning to also participate.
